Ebenezer cares about its senior citizens. We recognize that they did a lot over the years to make Ebenezer what it is today.

 

Our seniors still take an active part in the daily life of our church. Some volunteer to teach Sunday School and take part in other ministries of our church such as the Woman's Missionary Society, the Men's Fellowship, and the choir. That is a wonderful way for us to benefit from their wisdom and let our young people see the blessings of a godly life.

 

Once a month, we hold what we call the "MC Luncheon" (the "MC" stands for "Medicare"). This is our montly senior's luncheon held at our church at no charge for our senior citizens. It's a time of food and fellowship where we honor them, recognize birthdays, and allow them a social outlet so that they can feel a part of the community.

 

At Christmastime, we hold a special Christmas Seniors' Luncheon to honor our senior citizens. We decorate the fellowship hall, give a small gift to each one, and let them know how much we appreciate how much joy they bring to Ebenezer.

 

In addition, the seniors of our church form an informal "network" of sorts. They stay in touch with each other over the phone, often calling each other on a weekly or daily basis and letting each other know how much they mean to each other. It's truly a wonderful group of people who honor God in all that they do.
